Had a little getaway this weekend.
I was so happy when I was told we were going to Fort Canning hehe. Love.
Fell in love with the place the moment we arrived!
They have complimentary wine and champagne from 6pm to 8pm.. so alcoholics, you know where to go..
Checked in to the room and I LOVE IT.
The bed was ginormous ! I think they put two super single beds together. It's bigger than a king size for sure, and there was an uncomfortable gap down the middle of the bed, but of course just one side of the bed was big enough for us.
What I loved most about the place is the greenery outside and the IN-ROOM BATHTUB.
I love bath tubs. You will read this in all my stacation posts. Bath tub to me is always a plus!
The room was really big and they even have a nespresso machine which we made coffee with the next morning. :)
Ordered room service and chilled till dinner time.
It was really a sloth but enjoyable day!
We wen to brussel sprouts at robertson quay for dinner.
Their mussel meal comes with free flow fries!
My friend and I didn't get a refill at all, we barely finished them even.
Not a fan of thick cut fries!!
I'm also not a mussel person? But people KEEP, I emphasize, KEEEEEEEEEPPP saying that the mussels here will change your life and so I had to do it.
But man, it was so fishy??? and the mussels were so small, I thought mussels were huge.
We had the small sized one to share, this was about $20 for 11 pieces of mussels, you can choose clams too if you prefer that. They have a list of cooking style to choose from, I had the lobster bique one which was meh only. but my sister loves it to death, to each her own I guess. The beer was good though. I can't remember the name sorry.
Also ordered a beef stew pasta to share. I like it !!!!! The beef was so tender and came off in shreds, I love it. This is about $22 I think.
Also went to Kith cafe, ( hahaha I am freaking happy to blog about it because I've been going to all these places I've been dying to go I am so pleased. :) )
Rmbr I posted on how I dislike the truffle smell.. Ordered a mushroom soup which came with TRUFFLE!? Ok I don't know if there's really truffle in it but there was this overpowering petroleum taste and smell, soup is nice love that it came with chicken bits, but the mushrooms were abit smelly in my opinion. Hahaha, I can't appreciate good food, so.. maybe this would be a bowl of gold for you.
$8. Would have chosen a pumpkin soup anytime but it wasn't available that day sobz.
THIS IS THE HIGHLIGHT.
Crabmeat linguine with vodka cream sauce. SUPER NICE!!! My friend thought this was nice too, except that the crabmeat smelt fishy, but it was ok to me.
Most of the reviews I read recommended this, and true enough it was quite shiok.
I prefer this to marmalade pantry's chilli based version actually.
The scrambled eggs look damn watery we kept checking out food that were on other peoples' tables. Everyone was doing the same thing it was quite funny.
The brunch items all look pretty good, and it's so accessible and convenient, I can see myself coming here very often!
Also finally went to Victor's Kitchen.. What's the hype?! I've never eaten any food that makes me want to cry other than french toasts. I thought this place was super average with a lot of angsty people.
Ordered the below plus a prawn chee cheong fun and almond pudding.
The almond pudding was warm and it felt abit sick after a few mouths because I felt like I was eating those steamed egg you have for caifan, but a sweeter version. :/
Didn't order the liu sha bao because they didnt look molten at all...
But then I saw on instagram today of all the molten liu sha bao from this place .. I WAS LIKE.
URGH..
I think this place must see luck one.
I thought the steamed carrot cake with XO sauce was nice, I would totally add this to my to-eat list if I were still wearing braces. It's so soft!! My friend said carrot cake are supposed to be panfried, not steamed. We had a debate over it hahahah. I thought steamed carrot cake was quite common?
My manager dropped by and bought us double filet o fish!!
Now I feel like a ball of lard.
