Hello. Went for dinner at Antoinette at Scarlet hotel a few days ago.
The place is freaking tiny. I felt like a doll in a playhouse.
Haha. But the place was sweet and lovely. Service was meh.
But it's a very quiet place, and I like it.
Ordered egg benedict which came in a really huge portion. This was $16 I think? Which is really worth it cause the portion is damn huge, but I keep tasting sour cream and onion in the Hollandaise sauce lol. I don't eat raw food, so I didnt touch the ham but my friend said it smells like B.O.
But the eggs were well poached and the sauce was not bad.. VERY VERY BUTTERY, and the spinach and freeeeeeeeeeaking salty. Lol. I have very queer taste buds. Every time I taste something weird or awful I wld want to try a second time because I can't believe it can be so gross. I'm not talking about shit or raw food. I'm talking about food that I can generally accept but taste weird for the particular dish.
So this was ok! If you can accept parma ham, then give this a try!
I ordered my usual french toasts. Omg I am suddenly so inspired to do an entry to compare all the french toasts. LOL.
Then I put " guide to french toasts" as title. Like those bloggers. LOL JUST KIDDING. HAHA I AM SO IRRITATING.
I just want to share where I think has the best french toasts!!!
AND SPREAD MY BIG LOVE FOR THEM.
Ok.
I've tried Dean and Deluca's, PS CAFE's, Five & Dime's and Antoinette's so far.
Can't remember if I tried others.
But anyway... I think PS Cafe has the best version because the bread is fucking soft like eating clouds, and the outside is crispy and buttery and the vanilla bean ice cream is super heavenly.
It is served with caramelized poached pears if I remember correctly.. Love sweet and salty _ hot and cold food so warm buttery french toasts with ice cream is the perfect combi for me!! Really damn nice please try. This is like $20 ? Which I find really quite expensive for bread...
This is Dean and Deluca's version. Also nice, I clearly remember I wanted waffles but Sijia decided to get french toasts and I was abit upset but she changed my life after that. Haha. She opened up my life to the french toasts heaven. This one comes with caramelized bananas and other berries and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream . I thought this was overly sweet and the caramel had a slight burnt taste which made it a bit bitter. This will cost you a whopping $22 before tax and service charge so that's like $25 for 3 slices of brioche. Quite ex hor?
Ok so anyway back to Antoinette. I think it's fucking nice!! Like I could already smell my food cooking in the kitchen while I was waiting, I was damn excited. Had this the first time on my birthday, it was unforgettable. Instead of serving it with icecream, Antoinette's version comes with chantilly cream, you can see the vanilla bean specks inside it's soooooo good. The best part?!?! It's only $11.50 omg. T_T
That's like going to marmalade pantry and eating a crabmeat linguine for $10. Same feeling.
One of the cheapest french toasts around, and really it's not far from P.S cafe's.. it's damn nice also.
Had Brunch at Five and Dime.. I like that place!! It's so pretty!! There's free parking (woohoo!) perks if you drive too. It's conveniently located by the roadside, so it's super accessible and easy to find. Ordered the french toasts ( again ) . This one comes with either chicken sausage or bacon, and a fruit bowl! Anyway I thought the french toasts were boring cause there's no cream!! T_T
French toasts is not the same without cream!!
I can cook french toasts for myself with maple syrup and butter too... and this was $15. I was deciding between this and waffles. The waffle is the same price and comes with two scoops of icecream. WHAT WAS I THINKING. Guess I had my mind set on doing a french toast hunt.
Also ordered egg benedict again to try. I don't like the sauce ley. I think it's too tart. ( LOL , BEING ANNOYING AGAIN ) I wanted to type "it's quite sour " HAHAHAH but I had to do yknw use better terms. And this serving was a lot smaller than antoinettes and it costs $18? Can't remember.
Wanted to try other items on the menu but we went there specially for their breakfast items, so I would definitely go back to try their famous fish and chips next time!!! Last order is at 4pm!
Went to Sauce bar last week. It's a damn chillax place. It's gonna be my new hang out spot.
Known for their $5 nett Asahi. Everything is nett price here I love it.
Finger food prices are also super normal from $5 to $12 quite cheap.
I have no freaking idea howa meal for 4 people plus a couple of drinks could add up to $209?
But if you go easy on the drinks I think it's quite a cool place to chill. The whole open air space is a smoking area. #justsaying I mean where else can you drink beer and smoke and eat other than coffee shop?
POUTINE!!
Ok that's all!! I'm going to Strangers Reunion today whee so excited!
