Staycation: The Porcelain Hotel, Pasta Brava

Had a mini staycatin at The Porcelain Hotel over the weekend!
So excited to blog about it already even though i just got back from my staycation a few hours ago!

Located at Mosque street, The Porcelain Hotel is easily accessible with Chinatown MRT just a stone's throw away. There are many choices for supper like porridge, chinese food and steamboat. There's also a 24hr Mcdonald's just 200m away. Korean food lovers will be overjoyed to know that there is a whole stretch of KBBQ just opposite the hotel. There are also People's park food centre and Honglim food centre just around the corner, about a 15mins walk. Location for this place is great.

Pictures of the hotel taken from their website look fairly decent (durh).
It is a small boutique hotel with porcelain being it's theme ( durh again)
The rooms are not for the claustrophobics!
The smallest hotel room I had been to in Singapore thus far, is Scarlet Hotel at Ann Siang Hill. But it was a really cosy kind of small. Having read many reviews on Trip Advisor about how small the standard rooms are, we decided to take their best and biggest room - the suite!
Looks pretty good. I will always be a sucker for bath tubs that are not in the toilet lol.

So this was when we got there!!! I wouldn't say that it looks nothing like the pictures on the web because, it really looks the same. Just that i couldnt imitate the same exact shot as the hotel even though i was already standing the furthest i could ( against the wall behind me) to take this shot!

Their ammenities are seriously " lok kok" max ok. The kettle and fridge and telephone are those you will see in chalets.. But since we went there expecting it was going to be shitty... it didn't bother us much. Low expectations low disappointment yea.

This was the view from the bed. It was pretty nice la.

There is a flight of stairs leading u up to your room once you open the door.
( By the way... they only give out ONE card per room. How dumb is that. What if we need to go out and come back separately? )

Bought a raspberry creme brulee cheesecake from Starbucks. We liked it even though it tasted nothing like creme brulee.. Basically just a raspberry cheesecake.

Got ready and met my friend for dinner after watching movie on my comp.
I was so excited. I have been craving for pasta every day.
I had wanted to make reservation at 8pm but they were full house on the reservation list so she said even if I were to walk in, I will still have to wait. This was pretty near the hotel too by the way. It's located at Craig Road at Tanjong agar. We wanted to try Ember at Hotel 1929.. but since the timing was just nice we went with Pasta Brava and it was the BEST CHOICE EVER.

The service there was impeccable..!
The server pulled my chair for me and we are not even talking about dining in a fine dining place ok.
Service was meticulous! I give it 10 stars out of 10! I was taken by surprise when the waiter offered me a bib or napkin because he said I might dirty my top since I was wearing white. ( The funny part is.. i was wearing blue? Haha. And he said i am dressed like Snow white with my prince charming sitting opposite me. But I was in blue? hahaha. He might be right about the prince charming part though )

Had complimentary bread yay! My friend ordered the Merlot. Ahh.. I think this can be quite a romantic setting for couples...

The server was also very knowledgable about the menu. ( Don't you just hate it when you go to restaurants and when you ask for recommendations, the waiter will say something like " everything is good" or " I don't know". The latter is the worst..zzz  ) I wanted to try the duck ragu with mushrooms because it sounds soooo good and I read on a food blog that it was delicious. But the server was kinda hesitant about it when I placed my order... and said it is quite a sourish dish.. A SOUR PASTA!? So i went for beef bologneses instead! A classic will never go wrong! Even though I was dying to try the seafood pasta with scallops and crayfish ( Read that it was their hot seller there and the table beside mine was having it.....it looked damn good) I wanted something very savoury and meaty!
My dining partner was craving vey badly for carbonara, and the server was also very helpful is recommending dishes that would suit my friend's palette! Thumbs up for service!

My plate of beef bolognese was very satisfying! This is not on the menu so you'll have to ask for it!
If you're craving for cream pasta like my friend, you can let the waiter know and they will gladly change the dish from a tomato based pasta to a cream based one! My friend had the crayfish pasta with garlic and herbs which i didn't take a pic of :( It was really damn good man. I was secretly thinking of trading half my plate of pasta with his haha kidding. but it was really so good that i kept scraping the sauce to eat ... ahhh i'm hungry again. Pastas are priced at around 20+ . I think it's very reasonable!

There are also chalks for you to play.. haha which my friend and i very kindly helped ourselves to! This was the after math... we were the only table with a colorful table i reckon. We were playing battleship.. hhaha.

It was so good i hard core recommended it to siijia but i was high haha she knows me so well

Downed the bottle of wine during dinner, and we went over to The Vault ( just opposite the hotel ) for some drinks! The second level is quite happening with A LOT of expats!
Music was lounge music. Nothing fantastic la.

Went back to the hotel and drank a bottle of Choya! Was damn high after that already.. was dozing off even though i wanted to continue watching movie. Anyway.. woke up at 9am because of this sight, Fucking hell. The toom has no windows ok. And a little trick in booking hotel if you are that kind who has to sleep in the dark. If the hotel's description mentions anything about natural light.. JUST SKIP IT! Had sun shining in at 9am it was so bright and yikey lo.

Now the rant about this hotel. Seriously it is quite sucky. If you are those who are very particular about service, this is not the place for you! Go spend yr money elsewhere. Like we called because we wanted extra pillows and they initially said no because they were full house and didn't have enough inventory. Lol. You mean you only bought exactly 2 pillows for each room...the thought of u being full house is also very questionable judging by the quality of the rooms and service of the staff. nvm. Then we went down personally to ask and the staff if e could have more pillows but she said it would be chargable at 30 bucks a night per pillow. Day light robbery much? Then we asked for a bucket of ice because we wanted to chill the choya. They said we have to go buy it at the convenience store ourselves because they don't have a kitchen here. Don't even want to talk to them after that. SHJT SERVICE.
SHIT FACILITIES. SHIT STAFF. Oh yah the staff was damn rude. Like when we called them and when we couldn't hear them and said hello thrice, the staff hung up omg. So rude one. And when we were checking out right.. the staff were bitching to each other about some customers . SHOCKED.
I will never be back.. even though the standard of the hotel was like so so. And we got the best room some more. This open roof design is a huge minus for me too! The bed was also not comfy. This easily qualifies as the lousiest hotel i have ever been to. Because the rest of the hotels were so good! This really paled in comparison.

Anyway that shit aside. Had super yummy curry chicken noodle at honglim food centre. I love it!
Had dinner at liang court because i was craving for jap food. Super cheap and good. Want to come back again. This was at the basement of liang court. these two sets ( minus the sashimi) only cost us $23 ! SCORE!!!

Mommy came home and bought me so many cakes. because she knows i like cakes She lreally loves me so much. I will try to mop the floor tomorrow and pack my bed :( She is the sweetest. She loves me so much...
Also got a mani done today and a pedi done on thursday. Hahaha. I don't know why i've become so lazy to the extent tt i don't bother painting my nails myself anymore.

So tonight is a rest nigh for me hehe.
Had a great weekend i am so fat now
